It’s winter and it is officially ski and snowboard season here in North America! I live in Southern California, so we don’t see snow daily, but we have mountains that get snow in the winter and it is beautiful!
I went snowboarding for the first time this season a few weeks ago and it was beautiful! We had a dusting of fresh snow, which is good for southern California. Sometimes the best we get in the mountains is man-made snow, which isn’t great, but better than no skiing!
For most of us, we tend to get a little (or a lot!) sore after skiing or snowboarding, especially if we don’t go often. It is a great form of exercise. It’s outdoors in nature. It is using different muscles and movements than we do in our other workouts, which is why we are often sore afterward.
Here are my three favorite stretches to do after snowboarding or skiing to stretch out the sore leg muscles.
Calf stretch
Cross legged stretch for the hips
Quadriceps stretch
Try them out and let me know if they help! Remember with stretches to take your time in order to lengthen and relax the muscle. I like to hold stretches from 20 seconds up to one minute to get a good stretch.
Share this with the skiers and snowboarders in your life. This way you don't have to hear them complain about being sore after a day on the slopes!
